Client diversity is crucial for building a secure, resilient, and unstoppable blockchain network. It strengthens the network's robustness by giving users more options and flexibility. Most importantly, relying on one client is a force of centralization and a single point of failure . The GnosisDAO recognizes the value of client diversity for transparency and trust in the network. In 2022, the DAO funded efforts to increase the options for users on Gnosis Chain.

We are extremely excited to announce the arrival of Erigon and, in the coming weeks, Nimbus as additional Execution Layer clients for Gnosis Chain. Gnosis and Ethereum share a similar architectural design, and Gnosis is committed to supporting Ethereum's research, engineering, and tooling advancements. The current Beacon Chain architecture necessitates the use of both Execution and Consensus clients.
